Twenty-four-year-old David Terence Mahoney pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree felony assault. Under a plea deal, he will serve up to 90 days in jail. He'll be sentenced July 9.
Mahoney had been facing five counts of second degree assault and five counts of terroristic threats for dropping the sandbag onto a route where delegate buses were traveling last September.
The sandbag Mahoney threw didn't hit a vehicle. The criminal complaint says he was directing fellow protesters to throw another sandbag when the group was chased by a patrol car driven by Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher.
