G-20 Protest Links

Friends of Tortuga: friendsoftortuga.wordpress.com
From the website: "On October 1st, 2009, at 6:00am, the Joint Terrorism Task Force (a union of local police departments and the FBI), kicked out the front door to our home—an anarchist collective house in Queens, NY, affectionately known as Tortuga. The FBI spent 16 hours ransacking our house before carting off boxes of our personal belongings, everything from computers, passports and even stuffed animals. The apparent reason for this predawn raid was the arrest of two members of our household a week earlier in Pennsylvania. Our two friends were arrested and charged with several felonies for sending twitter messages during protests against the G20 in Pittsburgh."
The same narrative pattern unraveling
Inspired by a protest philosophy similar to that during the St. Paul RNC, the "Pittsburgh Principles" have been announced, modeled after the St. Paul Principles, declaring mutual respect for "a diversity of tactics", and a commitment to non criticism of protest tactics. The website offers—with a disclaimer stating that the "listing of a poster on this site does not necessarily imply endorsement"—a series of G-20 protest posters, many depicting various protesters dressed in black bloc attire, throwing stones and molotov cocktails, and armed with slingshots.

All of this is reminiscent of the images and language cited to justify the federal charges of "conspiracy to riot" leveled at eight members of the RNC Welcoming Committee in September 2009, whose homes were raided and who were preemptively arrested before the Convention started.
During the G-20 protests in London, in Spring 2009, similar preemptive arrests and raids took place of those associated with the "G20 Meltdown Welcoming Committee".
During the upcoming G-20 in Pittsburgh, the largest U.S. political protest event since the 2008 RNC, it seems inevitable—with the exact same narrative pattern unravelling—that we will see more of the same preemptive arrests and raids and a massive, expensive, out-of-proportion, and hostile police presence on the street towards all protesters.
