Conspiracy Tour 2010 Slinking Into Your Town This Summer! RNC 8, July 3rd, 2010
The State of Minnesota alleges that organizing a convergence space for protesters to have meetings, eat free meals, and check teh interwebs (on computers that an FBI informant helpfully set up!) makes the RNC 8 guilty of conspiracy. The Federal government claims that Scott DeMuth’s writings and associations suggest that he is an anarchist and therefore a domestic terrorist, making him guilty of conspiracy under the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. We say organizing resistance to state repression isn’t conspiracy. It’s survival. We say living our lives according to our principles isn’t terrorism. It’s our right. We say we’ll continue organizing no matter how much the state tries to destroy us and our communities. [Read more]

Court Report and Today's Schedule Courtwatch Working Group, Community RNC Arrestee Support Structure (CRASS), May 14th, 2010 Today we are back in Courtroom 1080. We will be here from 9 AM to about 4:30. Come anytime. As of yesterday, the security infrastructure has downgraded us to a mere curiosity. The Sheriff's Department is evidently not too worried about "violent anarchists" in the building. They declined to provide a single uniformed officer to watch over us. With all the budget cut-backs, they need those officers to mind prisoners who pose a more immediate threat to public safety. A lone plain-clothes deputy sat at the back of the courtroom -- a buddy of Jay Maher, who was in uniform and on the witness stand. (I suppose that counts as 2 deputies). I imagine Maher was glad to see a friendly face in the audience. [Read more]

So far, an undercover sheriff's deputy has testified that she followed them around for a year and she's got nothing. We heard some funny stories though -- like the time the three informants went to case a building for a banner drop. There was no one else with them -- it was just the government agents conspiring to commit illegal acts! [...] Hearings will be held on Thursday May 13th and Friday May 14th from 9 AM to 5 PM with a break for lunch. [Read more]
