The premise of the LOOKING BACK, MOVING FORWARD exhibit is to offer a community space where people can leave behind, access, or take home as evidence a wide variety of frozen photographic moments from the Republican National Convention that took place in St. Paul, MN in September 2008. Runs January 3rd, 2009, until end of January at the Black Dog Cafe in Lowertown, St. Paul. 20% of photo exhibition sales go to the RNC 8 Legal Fund. RNC arrestees and allies to rally against Chris Coleman on Monday Dance party and protest part of larger pressure campaign urging the dismissal of politically motivated charges Press Release, Community RNC Arrestee Support Structure (CRASS), December 15th, 2008 Community activists plan to rally against St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman this coming Monday, December 15th. As the local official who approved the Republican National Convention's security plan, Mayor Coleman shares much of the blame for police violence during the convention. The RNC security plan included the provision of up to $40 million in taxpayer funds for police weaponry and the unprecedented assurance of RNC money to cover both unlimited legal fees and up to $10 million in damages, should suits be filed against the police. In 1979, Morales cofounded the Northland Poster Collective, which sought to link artists with social justice organizing. He continues to work at Northland, which has become an artistic center for the United States labor movement and works with a variety of grassroots struggles. He continues to be involved in activist, educational, and artistic projects in the labor movement. [Read more]
