Just over a quarter of an hour of footage of the anarchists that Bob Fletcher said would have "destroyed the city" if he hadn't stopped them. Not much more than some brief road blocking is visible in this second RNC '08 Report-published CCTV footage of Black Bloc protesters from September 1st, the first day of the 2008 Republican National Convention.
It is astonishing to finally witness the banal footage of this much-hyped event, along with the other Day 1 footage of some window breaking downtown. Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher's claim that—had he not conducted pre-RNC raids of protest organizers homes, St. Paul would have been "destroyed"—is exposed as a complete distortion.
