Consolidated trial for 'RNC8' set to begin Oct. 25

A trial date of Oct. 25 has been set for the defendants who have come to be known as the RNC 8.

THE DEFENDANTS: Monica Bicking, Erik Oseland, Robert Czernik, Garrett Fitzgerald, Nathaniel Secor, Max Specktor, Erin Trimer and Luce Guillen-Givens are charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree damage to property and conspiracy to commit second-degree felony riot in connection with their alleged actions leading up to and on the first day of the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Another charge of committing crimes "in furtherance of terrorism" was dismissed last year.

TRIAL CONSOLIDATED: In December, Ramsey County District Judge Teresa Warner, who will preside over the trial, granted a defense motion to consolidate the eight trials into one.

Warner will hear more defense motions on May 3, 4, 5, 6, 13 and 14.
